This year we cooperated with Observatory on History Teaching in Europe on the 2024 European Innovation Days in History Education! We met in Strasbourg (3-5 April 2024) for three days teachers and representatives of International institutions will discuss new ways to teach history and foster peace and democracy.
The event was opened by Villano Qiriazi, Head of the Education Department at the Council of Europe, Marja Ruotanen, Director General of Democracy and Human Dignity at the Council of Europe and Vesna Batistic Kos, Ambassador, Head of the European Union Delegation to the Council of Europe. During the opening session, the Director of ENRS Rafał Rogulski pointed out that modern history education must be aimed at different age groups and try to bring those groups together. Students should be able to ask questions and look for answers, comparing their experiences with their colleagues representing different cultures. Throughout the event, our educational project Sound in the Silence took center stage. We commenced with a press conference, assembling the project participants. Subsequently, at the Palace of Europe, we debuted a film about Sound in the Silence, followed by a panel discussion featuring the esteemed artists - Dan Wolf, Tatiana Krukovska, and Kat Rampackova. The European Innovation Days in History Education are organised within the framework of HISTOLAB as a joint project between the European Union and the Council of Europe, focusing on the potential for evolution in history education, and shining a light on innovative initiatives in research, academia, and teaching practices.
